GREEN STUFF
Our swimwear is made with recycled polyester, which means the polyester fibres are created by taking plastics from landfill and mechanically breaking them down and chopping them into small pieces. The chopped up plastic is melted into pellets and then spun into thread.
Recycled fabric is great. Production of recycled polyester requires far fewer resources than new fibers and generates fewer CO2 emissions. It also uses virtually no water. That's 50% less CO2 and 70% less energy than making polyester from scratch - but beware anyone who tells you it's sustainable! The fabric can’t be recycled again for use in fashion textiles and is not biodegradable. It's just a clever way of recycling a tiny proportion of the planet's land fill waste.
The best way to keep plastic out of the ocean is to stop buying it.
Using recycled materials is one of the many things we do to reduce our carbon footprint.
We manufacture in small batches. Our swimwear is manufactured within 20km of our home in Sydney. We avoid unnecessary packaging and ship carbon neutral.
Most importantly we create a product that is designed to last for many years.
